About Piia Pauliina

My name is Piia Pauliina Anteroinen, although most people would only know me as Piia. I was born in Helsinki, Finland on 7 December 1974, and moved to London in the summer 1996, midst of the Brit Pop boom. Music has always been a huge passion of mine.
I trained as a contemporary dancer when I was still living in Finland, but I gave this up on moving to London in order to pursue more ‘academic’ career path.
I have got two Bachelor Science Degrees: BSc Sports Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention; and BSc Physiotherapy from the King’s College London where I graduated in 2006.
My first post as a rotational junior physiotherapist was with the Hounslow PCT, mainly based at the West Middlesex University Hospital. Afterwards, I decided to work as a locum physiotherapist, and was very quickly placed in Redbridge, working in the community paediatrics. The job was going really well, but sadly just after a week into the job, I ended up in Homerton hospital for 10 days of investigations for lymphoedema.
On June 17, 2009 I was diagnosed with cancer, a diffuse large B cell lymphoma, a form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
I am currently being treated for the cancer at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
